This past Wednesday, we went in for a routine check-up and our doctor was a bit worried when he noticed Chasen had not grown over the past 3 weeks. Not only that but he had yet to drop down into Richelle's pelvis. Oh, and he was posterior as well AKA Sunny Side Up. All of those things in addition to Richelle's previous medical history was more than enough for our doctor to schedule a C-section for the following day.
It is not how we had imagined or hoped to bring Chase into this world but we put our trust into our awesome doctor that had gotten us this far. A bit apprehensive, we arrived at Cedars at 12:30pm the next day and 2 and half hours later our little guy had arrived happy, healthy, and with a wail of a cry. After the surgery, all of our worries regarding the C-section were over as the doctor said that no matter how small this baby was he would not have fit through Richelle's pelvis as she has an extremely narrow "V" shaped pelvis (which explains why he had not dropped). Richelle felt no pain (she even said the epidural was nothing) and is recovering extremely quickly. Chasen is doing GREAT. His life is comprised of nursing, sleeping, and making hilarious sounds.
The next chapter in our lives has begun. We haven't had much sleep only because we want to spend every possible moment with him. He doesn't cry much, and seems to be an extremely chill baby which is awesome. Richelle was meant to be a mom and it shows when she's with Chase. As for me, my skills at changing a diaper and swaddling are growing by the minute.
We're still not sure who he resembles most but he looks different with every hour that passes. It feels great to be parents and we have been blessed!
